Elfreda Dali

Born in 1995, Nigerian, lives in London, UK.

Elfreda Dali, a London-based multidisciplinary artist, anchors her work in figurative textile art, drawing from extensive research delving into diasporic cultures, identities, and geography. Wearable art serves as a means for Dali to bridge the gap between art and its audience, challenging conventional boundaries. Her evolving artistic approach combines textiles, repurposed clothing, and acrylics creating a unique “topographic aesthetic.”

Through intricate lines, shapes, and patterns mirroring physical map features, she reflects on the emotional and physical journeys across landscapes ;encapsulating narratives surrounding family, labor, self-exploration, and travel. Having studied fashion design at Ravensbourne University, Dali integrates garment production and print techniques into her art.Utilizing leather as her canvas and cotton thread as her paint, she orchestrates her own self-sustaining cycle, frequently incorporating discarded fabric from fashion ventures as a means to bolster sustainability and environmental awareness Dali’s art has been featured by prestigious platforms such as Somerset House, Southbank Centre,The Royal Albert Hall, The V&A Museum, and internationally at Alliance Francaise in Lagos, Rele Gallery Los Angeles and in Portland, Oregon.

Her accolades include being recognized in Arise’s 30 under 30 for her wearable art, showcasing at prominent fashion events including Lagos and London Fashion week, and sharing her knowledge as a guest lecturer at Northampton and Ravensbourne University. She was one of the winners of the Young Contemporaries 2022 residency program with Rele Gallery and her wearable art has been featured on prominent artists including Grammy awarded Tems, Tay Iwar and many others.
